- Our Guild was founded in November 1948 by a small group of Monrovian housewives who decided they wanted to make a difference after a hospital tour. This year we celebrate 78 years in Monrovia!
- Since our inception, the Monrovia Guild has raised over $1 million dollars for CHLA.
- There are over 20 other Guilds in LA County who raise money for CHLA with fundraising events, unique to their communities.
- Currently, our fundraising dollars are directed to two specific endowments: Ophthalmology (eye care) and Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine (respiratory & lung disorders).
- CHLA treats and cares for the kids in OUR community, regardless of household income. In 2025, they cared for over 1,400 kids in Monrovia, Arcadia and Duarte (MAD) with over 4,200 cases (appointments, surgeries, treatments, lab tests, etc.). Even though CHLA has Los Angeles in their name, they are an invaluable resource for children and their families in OUR neighborhoods.
- Over 75% of children treated by CHLA are on Medicaid. These children receive world-class healthcare and life-saving treatment regardless of ability to pay.
- CHLA is one of America’s premier teaching hospitals, affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC).
- In 2026, U.S. News & World Report ranked CHLA as the #1 pediatric hospital in California and one of the Top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation.
- We not only raise funds for the hospital, but we also support CHLA staff and patients with in-kind donations, such as:
- Every month we donate treats and snacks for the nursing staff on Sixth Floor East, who work tirelessly and often without a break to care for critically ill children on their floor. SEE PHOTOS BELOW 🙂

We also donate “Activity Bags” throughout the year for the kids (and their siblings) who visit the hospital or a satellite office for doctor appointments, lab tests, treatments or outpatient care. These activity bags include coloring books, crayons, toys, art supplies, and more. These kits keep the kids busy and helps to reduce stress for the kids and their parents while in the waiting room. The supplies for these bags are generously donated by our members.

We are a non-profit that benefits the patients and families served by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Our primary purpose is to raise funds for the hospital and build community awareness.
